Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 teaspoon food-grade baking soda
- 4 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 16 ounces cold filtered water
- 12–16 ice cubes
- 2–4 teaspoons honey or agave, optional
- 2–4 fresh lemon slices, optional garnish
Instructions
- Pour 16 ounces of cold filtered water into 2 clear drinking glasses.
- Squeeze 4 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice from ripe lemons.
- Strain out any seeds or pulp if you prefer a smoother drink.
- Add 6-8 ice cubes to each glass.
- Stir 1-2 teaspoons of honey or agave into each glass if using sweetener.
- Pour 2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice into each ice-filled glass.
- Stir gently to distribute the lemon juice evenly.
- Measure 1/4 teaspoon of food-grade baking soda for each serving.
- Slowly add the baking soda to each glass while stirring continuously.
- Watch as the mixture fizzes and bubbles immediately.
- Continue stirring for about 30 seconds until the vigorous bubbling settles.
- Add fresh lemon slices as garnish if desired.
- Serve immediately while the carbonation is active and pronounced.
Notes
Use fresh lemon juice for the brightest flavor and food-grade baking soda only. Add baking soda slowly to prevent overflow. Serve immediately because the fizz fades quickly after mixing.
